EATING DISORDERS: NAVIGATING SOCIETY'S MESSAGES AROUND BODIES, FOOD, AND HEALTH
Presentation Summary:
We are flooded with messages about what is and isn’t healthy on a daily basis, and it can be confusing to navigate conversations around eating and exercise as a result. In this session, we’ll explore these messages, reflect on the conversations we have with our children and youth, and discuss resources available to support someone who might be struggling with an eating disorder.

Presentation Summary:
Parents of 2SLGBTQIA+ children need support and education so that they can, in turn, support and advocate for their kids. This session provides foundational knowledge about gender identity and sexual orientation, as well as guidance on things to say (and not say!) when your child comes out and how to support them. We'll also address some of the disinformation causing needless fear and we'll celebrate this amazing community that enriches all our lives.

GAMING AND INTERNET MEDIA ADDICTION
Presentation Summary:
This session will look at what makes gaming/social media so addictive; it will highlight students who are most vulnerable to becoming addicted; it will also discuss the connections between gaming addictions and mental health disorders. Additionally, we will discuss some strategies that are proving to be effective when working with young people who develop a gaming addiction and who also have mental health challenges. Participants will have an opportunity for case discussions and share their experiences with other attendees.

Human Trafficking is one of the fastest growing crimes in the province of Ontario, with the GTA as the number one destination for perpetrators of these crimes. This Parent/Caregiver Awareness session will help you understand; what human trafficking is, how to recognize the signs, what to do if you suspect your child or someone you care about may be at risk for trafficking/being trafficked or exploited, and where to go for help.

Our event will begin with our keynote speaker who will present to all attendees, after which you will attend two breakout information sessions based on your interests. When registering, you will have the opportunity to choose the two sessions you wish to attend.
This event is free of charge however, we are proud to partner with The Period Purse and ask that you consider bringing items to donate.
